MARRIAGE: Built to Last Workshop
Money, in-laws, sex, arguments… we all want a healthy, loving marriage, but there are so many real issues that can get in the way. Married couples (or about to be) come join us and look at practical ways to work through these issues.  Invite your couple friends to join you.  You will be given tools on how to live and love intentionally.  Many have expressed how these tools have enriched their marriage. Includes video featuring Pastor Chip Ingram (Radio Host, Living on the Edge) and 24 couples sharing real life stories in six weekly sessions on Wednesday evenings, September 8 – October 13 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Southwest Lutheran Church, 5120 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne (1/4 mile south of Homestead H.S.). $5/participant materials fee.  To register CLICK HERE or call 260.436.4474.

THE BIBLE CHALLENGE

“For the word of God is living and active.” Hebrews 4:12

Beginning the week of February 15-21 I am challenging the congregation to memorize one or more Bible passages a week for 52 weeks. I have selected a section of Scripture for each week. I will ask the congregation on Sunday who is able to give the passages from memory. Let these passages be your food for the week.

"MAKE A DIFFERENCE" GRANTS
This year we are going to use our Healthy Congregations Grant (formerly called Partnership Grants) from the Lutheran Foundation as an opportunity to make a difference to people in need. We are making available to the people of SWLC seven grants of up to $1,000 that may be used to meet a need in the life of someone in your area of influence. In these next few weeks keep your eyes and ears open for a way that you might use this grant to bless someone. You should ask some other people to get involved in your mission effort. Involve your small group, family or neighbors and become a servant of someone who needs to see the Church of Jesus Christ in action.
Here are the guidelines for the grant:
1. Applications are made to the elders.
2. You should involve others who will pray for the person and get actively involved in serving the person or persons you choose.
3. Grants will be awarded up to $1,000.
4. A report will be made to the board of elders on what was done and your personal insights into the mission effort.

Let God lead you in this opportunity to impact someone with the love of Christ. The key to this outreach is committing your time, energy and prayer to serving the person you choose. Let God grow in you in an understanding of how we can make a difference in our service to others. Application Form
