SUPPORT INTERNATIONAL CAMP

EMMERSION IN ENGLISH CLASSES
LAMB (Lutheran Agency for Mission to Burmese) is pleased to announce that we will begin “Immersion in English” classes for adult Burmese on February 13, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran School, 3705 S. Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN.

Classes will be offered:
Mornings, Monday thru Friday from 10:00 am to noon.
Afternoons, Monday thru Friday from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.
                                                                                
Classes will consist of a 55-minute session using the “Tell Me More English Language Program” in their computer lab. This will be followed by a 55-minute session called the “Conversation Partner” program.

The “Conversation Partner” program will be led by Dick Rinker.  Dick and his wife, Phyllis, were medical missionaries in India for eight years. Upon their return Dick went to Taylor University and received his certificate to teach “English as a Second Language”.  He has previously worked for Catholic Charities in their ESL program.
                                                                                                         
Our “Conversation Partner” session is designed for one student with one English-speaking partner or two students with one English-speaking partner.  We are recruiting people who have a “heart for mission” and a desire to help the Burmese become proficient in the English language. The “Conversation Partner” will work with one or two Burmese for the 55-minute session on verbal and written communication using materials provided by Mr. Rinker.  We want this to be “relational” where you will develop a close friendship with your Burmese students.

We are offering two training sessions for those who have an interest. The first training session will be on February 8th at 1:00 pm and the second training session will be on February 15th at 3:00 pm Training sessions and classes will be held at:

Missions Work

We have many ways to be involved with Missions at SWLC. We have local opportunities available in tutoring, teaching English as a Second Language or life skills mentoring, helping with Vacation Bible Study, going on Visitations, transporting people to appointments and jobs, helping others transition to our culture, providing childcare and many other ways to show God's love in Fort Wayne. KAREN CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

SWLC is supporting the Burmese Christian community with the mission start among the Karen people. This ministry centers around the worship community of Karen families that meet each Sunday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 3705 S. Anthony Blvd each Sunday at 2:30.
